Pansa Amalfi has the unique distinction of not only having chocolate and coffee, but also being one of the oldest coffee shops in Positano. Founded in 1830 by Andrea Pansa, the store stands next to the famous Cathedral of Amalfi and is perfect for a snack and some coffee before exploring the Cathedral. Pansa Amalfi has been passed down through the generations and is now owned by Pansa children who strive to make the shop the best while also preserving its legacy.
Many people stop inside for a quick bite to eat as well as “un caffè espresso”, but don’t realize that all of the chocolate inside the store is made less than a block away. With the coffee business already a success, the Pansa children were ready to take on a new challenge, so they turned to chocolate. After traveling the world, they found the best cocoa beans and began the production of the chocolate. The beans are imported and then brought to Amalfi to the factory which rests behind the Cathedral. When it is ready to be sold, it travels less than a block to Pansa Amalfi, where it is then put on display. This Italian Willy Wonka knows the perfect flavors to mix and loves coming up with new creations. Tourists too, love the chocolate and treats that are made inside Pansa Amalfi and devour the delicacies within seconds of getting them. Amalfi may be known for its beaches and cathedrals now, but soon it may be known for its coffee and chocolate.
